Itinerary (1 Day)
Day 1
Our trip to Jerusalem starts off with an hour drive from Dahab to the Port city of Taba. We will board the ferry early morning and make our way to the Port City of Eliat in Israel. From there an approximate two hour journey to Jerusalem will kick off. When we reach Jerusalem, our first stop will be at the Western ("Wailing") Wall.
At all hours of the day or night, visitors stream to the Wall to pray, to take photographs, or just to absorb some of the historic and spiritual atmosphere that permeates the ancient site. The main entrance to Jerusalem’s Old City faces the west toward the old port of Jaffa, and is located next to one of the city’s best-known sites, the Tower of David or Citadel. There are seven gates open: New Gate, Zion, Dung, Jaffa, Lions’ (St. Stephen's), Herod’s, and Damascus (Shechem).
The Citadel was built as a minaret of a mosque during the Ottoman period and makes for excellent photo opportunities. Temple Mount is a hill in the eastern part of Old Jerusalem and is of special significance to the world's three major religions. It was reputedly the site of the first and second Jewish Temple, and since the 7th century has contained two Muslim shrines.
After a traditional Israeli lunch we will make our way to one of the most significant sites in the religion of the world - Via Dolorosa (Way of the Cross). Known as traditional route Jesus took while carrying His cross. The route begins at Ecce Homo where Jesus is condemned by Pilate and ends at the Church of the Holy Sepulture. This church was built in the fourth century over the site of a Roman Pagan temple, and is considered one of the world’s Holiest shrines to Christians, preserving the most important moments of the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. After an eventful and probably emotional day, we will drive back to Eliat and board our ferry taking us back to Taba and then back to your hotel in Dahab per road.
