Pack hats, sunglasses and long, loose, light clothing for sunny days all year round. Evenings tend to be somewhat cooler especially when doing desert safaris, when you’ll also need a sleeping bag. During the winter months light woollens are useful as well as a light wind-jackets.

Shorts for men and women are suitable when visiting temples, tombs and ancient sites in Upper Egypt. When visiting mosques, more modest dress is necessary; shorts for men would not be appropriate attire, and ladies are required to cover their shoulders and ideally also down to their knees and elbows.
